Capturing your wedding day in all of its wondrous glory is no easy feat. You want photos of absolutely everything: you and the groom, your gown, your wedding party, the cake and of course your embarrassing aunt breaking out her moves on the dance floor. You will always have your memories of everything but according to past brides, the day goes by so fast that it’s nearly impossible to see and remember everything that went on. This is where photos come into play and this is why it is so crucial that you choose the perfect photographer for you! Here are a few tips to help you pick this important player in your special day:
·Figure out your photographer needs ahead of time. Do you need one or two photographers? Do you also need a videographer? How long does the photographer need to be there before, during, and possibly after the wedding and reception? How much are you willing to spend on a photographer/videographer? These are all important questions to ask yourself before even setting up appointments to meet with photographers.
·Look through photographer’s portfolios to see if you like their aesthetic. Unfortunately I have encountered numerous brides who have not considered this and are then disappointed when they receive their photos. Wedding photos are not cheap and these photos will be very important to you, so it is imperative that you like what you are getting. Meet with photographers and ask them to bring ample samples of their work so that you can see how they like to take and edit their photos. Some photographers like bright photos, some dark around the edges, some from far away, etc. It is important that you like the photographer’s style and discuss with them how you would like your wedding day photos to turn out.
·Discuss with them the shots you absolutely cannot live without. Most wedding photographers know what shots are essential and that brides and grooms look for, but if there is something special that they might not know about, like a special patch sewn into your gown from your late grandma, make sure they know that it is important to you to have pictures of this. Photographers are not mind readers, so if you don’t let them know then you might not get that shot.
·Lastly, since I know that you are going to be the most gorgeous Pnina Bride, make sure the photographer gets plenty of photos of you in your Pnina Tornai gown! I’m talking hanging gown photos, up close detail photos, portrait shots, full body shots, the works! Also, make sure you get plenty of photos without your beautiful bouquet blocking your stunning gown!
Photos of your wedding day are not only for you to look back at but for you to show your future children or any relatives who may not have been able to make it to your celebration. You will want to look at them for a lifetime, so do your research and be clear about what you want. These are photos of one of the most important days of your life and I hope that they are ones that you will forever cherish.
