One of the most popular styles amongst my brides that like a touch of whimsy added to their gowns is the handkerchief gown. Composed of wonderful layers creating different shapes and dimensions to the skirt, these gowns are no doubt full of magic and wonder. 

Handkerchief gowns themselves come in many different variations but are based off of the same shape and silhouette. Handkerchief gowns are constructed similar to ball gowns. They usually have an empire or natural waist and from there cascade out into layers and layers of fabric. Some have “shoe cleavage” which is where they are a bit shorter in the front and you can see the bride’s shoes while others are full length. Some gowns resemble an actual handkerchief with its layers forming different layers that come to a point at the bottom while others are soft and voluminous waves.
